Horobin pasted photocopies of small drawings that had been sent through the mail - in response to his request for images of chairs - in a symmetrical pattern over the chair to create the Chair of Chairs. It was photographed in black & white bathed in the DATA Attic’s (Dundee, Scotland, UK) natural light by Neil Watson.

The Chair of Chairs was not publicly exhibited until 2006 when The DATA project was given its first retrospective exhibition in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. Dislpayed in a ground-floor gallery of the art college as part of an event on the theme of artists’ archives organised by Julie Bacon for Interface.
In April 2011 the chair was transported by van from Dundee to East Street Studios in Leeds then onwards to Budapest by Árva Trans to join the collection of Pete Horobin’s DATA relocated at Artpool.
