György Galántai EXISTENCE SIGNS (1971-2021)

K53/exhibition space 1971

From 1971 György Galántai started dealing with the topic of signs and meanings.
He was developing a visual system of signs. He exhibited his “Existence-sign” prints in the Chapel in Balatonboglár and in the foyer of Madách Theatre in Budapest.

Objective: to create a unified visual approach and construction system that can be used to describe every phenomenon, every issue – the world.
Invention: the module. One module consists of four elements.
Characteristics of an element: square-shaped (later its distortions) basic unit, which includes any simple or more complex configuration, connectible with any other element.
