Artpool P60, 21-24 February 2000
4 p.m.-6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Dear Readers, Viewers, Artists, Recipients, and Colleagues,

If you feel inspired and have the time, you are invited to take part in the first exhibition of Artpool’s chance project with a work of your choosing. The ‘chance workday’ for the exhibition is Sunday 20 February, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. [video]

Do not miss the unique opportunity to find the place best suited to you in ‘the permanent space of creativity’ in Artpool P60, (Bp. VI. Paulay u. 60) in the company of the other ‘site-specifically’ placed works.

The personal exhibition evolving from small, chance decisions can be viewed on the days after the show until Thursday.

Best regards,
György Galántai

Leap Day Event

on 24 February, Thursday, from 6 p.m.

Every visitor who comes to the chance exhibition will have the opportunity to choose a piece they think or feel is important to them and take it home as a gift. Gradually being ‘dismantled’ in this way, the exhibition will extend to the city, the country and the world to become their ‘site-specific’ part.

If more people choose the same piece, it will be decided with the throw of a dice who can take it home.

Every author (artist) will receive an ‘appreciation prize’ based on how many visitors would want to take their work home.

The amount of the ‘appreciation prize’ is determined by the extent of appreciation and the sum of money provided by the sponsor.

For example:

If the sum at our disposal is HUF 100,000 and the ideal number of voters is 200, the unit of measurement (the smallest appreciation award) is HUF 500 regardless of the number of works/authors, but by chance the sum of the biggest appreciation award can be more than half of the total amount available. An extreme example is if there are 50 works and all of the 50 persons present vote for all of the works; in this case the unit of measurement falls to HUF 40 but the appreciation award will be HUF 2,000 for each work.

This system will hopefully make it clear that the size of the appreciation award is dependent upon the chance behaviour of the voters.

Note: 1./ authors can also vote, and if an author wins by chance, he or she can keep the work and he or she will receive an appreciation award. 2./ works that are only chosen by their own authors will remain with their authors and they will not receive an appreciation award.
