Comment: The project was initiated by Ruggero Maggi; Mike Duquette and Joki joinned in the project and started to send out calls and flyers into the network using the rubber stamp produced in three copies by Maggi. It was also Maggi who suggested Joki shall publish a ’zine documenting the Gina project.

„Ruggero knew the piggy Gina in Minden (D) during a Mail Art meeting organized by Joki in 1987 and he was dazzled by Her! In a local market he found a rubberstamp with the German Post emblem which he transformed, with a few simple strokes, into the mythical Gina’s pretty snout and with another rubberstamp – made in three copies sent to Joki himself and Mike Duquette – rendered the piggy Gina an art, social and political symbol.” Ruggero Maggi: The Saga of Gina, postcard, s. a.

“I got bored of keeping all the mail that I received, obsessively hoarding it in a growing number of cardboard boxed. I wanted to do something different with it, actually USE it in some way, so in June 1987, when I moved into a new house (34 Cotesbach Rd.), I decided to use the mail as wallpaper, I pasted all of my mail directly onto the walls, until the whole room was covered, than I went over it again, and again, until in September 1988, when I moved house, that had been covered three times over, it had been a continuously changing installation from June 1987 to September 1988.“ Mark Pawson
